Concept study

The wall completes the object

Challenge

A sculptural light can look complete on the bench yet become visually flat when the surrounding wall and ambient light are ignored.

Approach

The concept study tests aperture rhythm, reflector depth, source offset, and two wall tones as one composed light-and-shadow system.

Current outcome

The visual direction supports a deliberate shadow field; final intensity and projection still require a physical sample in the intended room conditions.

Concept study

Keep the light core reachable

Challenge

Expressive shells often hide the exact component most likely to need inspection or replacement during the object’s life.

Approach

An indexed shell, diffuser, and low-voltage core separate without disturbing the weighted base or visible geometry.

Current outcome

The concept makes maintenance legible, while final fasteners, clearances, and certified electronics remain subject to prototype validation.

Let felt hold the darkness

Challenge

Acoustic material can feel technical and visually busy when every layer competes with the illuminated form.

Approach

A restrained charcoal felt field absorbs visual spill while a warm aperture and one expressed edge define the hierarchy.

Current outcome

The material concept creates a quieter backdrop for light without making unsupported whole-room acoustic claims.
